Slow Bloggers
So we haven't posted in a while because my sister-in-law is helping us set up a better, more user- friendly blog. She and her brother are blog whizes (that sounds funny). Anyway, we have been holding off or last couple of posts because we want to put them on our new blog. We are really excited that she is helping us, and we hope we can wait to tell our news for the rest of the week (and, no, we are not having a baby).

Valentine's Day

I was reading the wifeadvice.com blog today and discovered that they are having a contest for Valentine's Day. If I post something about the V-day on my blog, I have a chance to win a $175 giveaway from their blog. Sweet! So here goes the V-Day post:
Ryan is a very thoughtful husband. He learned this trait from his dad--that and the ability to think of great gifts and activities for holidays and b-days.
When Ryan and I first met in high school he once asked me what would be the best present anyone could ever give me. He said it had to be something for myself (so no giving to the poor) and something that was substantial/or could be bought (so not love). I thought for a while and decided the coolest gift would be a shopping spree to buy a lot of really nice clothes and get a whole new wardrobe at once.
This would have been the perfect present because my parents had very little money to give me for new clothes. I usually worked a lot and saved my money so I could periodically buy new clothes, instead of expecting my parents to do it. Ryan stored this bit of information away and I didn't think of it again. The converstation seemed similar to what would you do with a million dollars, so I didn't take it seriously.
For our second Valentine's Day together, Ryan surprised me with a bed full of wrapped presents. He had bought me all new clothes that he had picked out himself, and I loved everything (he is very good at shopping for me).
I was so excited--I couldn't believe he remembered. When I opened the last box, he then told me we were going shopping for more! It really was a dream come true. Ryan is the best present giver, especially for V-day.

Treat a Wife Right

Since it is Halloween and treats are on everyone's mind, I thought I should share the awesomeness that is Ryan.
I have been studying for the GREs and just finished taking my test last week. Wahoo for me. When I got home Ryan told me that he bought me a special treat for doing so well. He bought me POPCORN! Not just any popcorn; not some dumb popcorn popping on a tree; and definitely not poopcorn, because that's not a treat at all.
We are talking about Dale and Thomas Popcorn. This is popcorn from heaven with various kinds of drizzles that make it irresistible. Drizzles include white chocolate and peanut butter (my favorite), cinnamon and brown sugar and white chocolate (tastes like a cinnamon roll), carmel and chocolate, chocolate and toffee, chocolate and white chocolate. Now I have gotten carried away with all of the delicious drizzles.
My point is that Ryan is an amazing husband because he fulfilled his role as provider of treats for his wife--treats that are covered in chocolatey goodness.
Now that Thanksgiving, Hanukah Christmas, Kwanzaa (any excuse will do really) are coming, buy your wife some much needed popcorn.
If you go to www.daleandthomaspopcorn.com, you can get 2 FREE packages of popcorn. You have to pay for shipping (specifics about offered flavors on the website), and on the confirmation page you get a code for $6 off your next purchase!!! To get the free popcorn, click on the link on the right side of the page (on the daleandthomas website) that says "Looking for free popcorn."

Breaking News About Harry Potter!!
Note: For those of you who haven't finished the Harry Potter Books and don't want some things spoiled for you, you might not want to continue with this post. I will post the breaking news in the next paragraph. If you just read the next paragraph it should not ruin anything that happens in the book. You probably don't want to read the rest though because it gives a few things away that are in the last book. Continue reading at your own discretion.
Author J.K. Rowling was at a book signing where she read a little from her final book. After the brief reading she took a few questions from fans in attendance. One fan asked if Dumbledore finds true love. The author replied, "Dumbledore is gay."
Note: Don't continue reading if you don't want to hear things that go on in the final book. I repeat. Don't continue if you don't want to hear things that go on in the final book.
She then explained that Dumbledore was smitten with rival Gellert Grindelwald whom he defeated long ago in a battle between good and bad wizards. "Falling in love can blind us to an extent," Rowling said of Dumbledore's feelings, adding that Dumbledore was "horribly, terribly let down. Dumbledore's love was his great tragedy."
