Slow Bloggers

So we haven't posted in a while because my sister-in-law is helping us set up a better, more user- friendly blog. She and her brother are blog whizes (that sounds funny). Anyway, we have been holding off or last couple of posts because we want to put them on our new blog. We are really excited that she is helping us, and we hope we can wait to tell our news for the rest of the week (and, no, we are not having a baby).

Valentine's Day

I was reading the wifeadvice.com blog today and discovered that they are having a contest for Valentine's Day. If I post something about the V-day on my blog, I have a chance to win a $175 giveaway from their blog. Sweet! So here goes the V-Day post:

Ryan is a very thoughtful husband. He learned this trait from his dad--that and the ability to think of great gifts and activities for holidays and b-days.

When Ryan and I first met in high school he once asked me what would be the best present anyone could ever give me. He said it had to be something for myself (so no giving to the poor) and something that was substantial/or could be bought (so not love). I thought for a while and decided the coolest gift would be a shopping spree to buy a lot of really nice clothes and get a whole new wardrobe at once.

This would have been the perfect present because my parents had very little money to give me for new clothes. I usually worked a lot and saved my money so I could periodically buy new clothes, instead of expecting my parents to do it. Ryan stored this bit of information away and I didn't think of it again. The converstation seemed similar to what would you do with a million dollars, so I didn't take it seriously.

For our second Valentine's Day together, Ryan surprised me with a bed full of wrapped presents. He had bought me all new clothes that he had picked out himself, and I loved everything (he is very good at shopping for me).

I was so excited--I couldn't believe he remembered. When I opened the last box, he then told me we were going shopping for more! It really was a dream come true. Ryan is the best present giver, especially for V-day.
